Chamber Sounds 2027 – Chamber Music in Wintertime Langenlois

For the fifth time, the wintry scenery of the Kamptal valley around Langenlois provides the backdrop for a chamber music festival that kicks off the year with flair and artistic excellence.

Concert pitch: As musical life expanded across regions and internationally, there was a growing need for a standard reference pitch that could be applied to all instruments in the orchestra. In the 19th century, concert pitch was defined as having a frequency of 440 hertz. Even the Earth has a natural frequency of 8 hertz. At a multiple of this frequency, concert pitch literally resonates in harmony with the world.

The “Kammertöne” concert series, under the artistic direction of Vitus Eckert, is just as harmonious. With its blend of music and literature, this chamber music festival promises a spirited and sophisticated start to the year.

“Kammertöne 2027” Program

To kick off KAMMERTÖNE 2027, Vitus Eckert (baritone), Manfred Schiebel (piano), Marcus and Sebastian Schmidinger (horn), and Taner Türker (cello) will perform romances, ballads, and instrumental works by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Carl Loewe, Ludwig van Beethoven, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Gaetano Donizetti, and other composers.

On Saturday , to kick off the Beethoven Year 2027, Anna Manske (mezzo-soprano), Gernot Heinrich (tenor), and the Ballhausorchester Wien, conducted by Judith Steiner, will perform both well-known and rarely performed works by Ludwig van Beethoven. The program will be rounded out with music by Mozart, Ferdinand Ries, Donizetti, and Rossini.

On Sunday, the KAMMERTÖNE will present “The Erlkings,” offering a fresh take on the music of Franz Schubert. The Viennese ensemble, led by singer Bryan Benner, combines art songs with extraordinary arrangements and English translations, offering a unique new perspective on works by Schubert and other great composers.
