The Kamptal Region

Langenlois is the heart of the Kamptal region and is considered Austria’s largest wine town. Surrounded by rolling hills and sun-drenched vineyards, the region combines tradition, nature, and modern wine appreciation.

Here, visitors can experience the diversity of regional wines such as Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, explore charming wine cellar alleys, and immerse themselves in the world of wine—for example, at the Loisium Weinwelt.

The Kamptal region captivates visitors with its diverse landscape, picturesque villages, and numerous cycling and hiking trails. When it comes to dining, wine taverns and restaurants serving regional specialties offer unforgettable culinary experiences.

Whether it’s spring, summer, or fall—Langenlois and the Kamptal invite you to explore, enjoy, and relax all year round.

Langenlois Wine Trail

The Wine Trail in Langenlois is a roughly 6-kilometer-long wine hike through the most beautiful vineyards of the Kamptal region, including Dechant, Käferberg, Steinhaus, and Schenkenbichl. Along the route, a stunning natural experience is combined with fascinating insights into wine: Visitors immerse themselves in the “vineyard as a workplace” and learn interesting facts about viticulture, winemakers, and the enjoyment of wine—all while being treated to magnificent views of the characteristic vineyard landscape surrounding Langenlois.

Special attention is drawn to unique interactive stations and oversized objects, such as a giant pair of pruning shears or an oversized earthworm, which vividly illustrate the work done in the vineyard. Art also has its place: on Käferberg, Heimo Zobernig’s “Grape” is a striking feature, complemented by a viewing platform offering sweeping views of the region.

Another highlight is the giant walk-in champagne-shaking table, which serves as a unique observation deck offering spectacular panoramic views all the way to the foothills of the Alps. Those who want to combine the hike with culinary delights can sample selected wines directly along the route with the Weinsafe Package or enjoy regional specialties and wines at the vineyard tavern on weekends.

Price: EUR 30.00 (as of May 2026)

Wine Tasting at the Vineyard Tapas Bar

On weekends, some of the wine safes are closed. Instead, different wineries take turns serving wine at the Riedenportrait (“Kufstein-Platzl”) and/or the giant wine-tasting table. Wine hikers can enjoy a glass of wine or sparkling wine at the “Weingartenschank” right in the vineyard with a view of Langenlois. This offers a chance to chat and talk shop with the winemaking family or their staff. All details at www.langenlois.at/weingartenschank.
